DB2 Mainframe administrator

Skills
& Job Requirements:
·
Responsible for supporting
the organization’s DB2z databases and ensuring their performance, availability,
and security.
·
Responsible for database
design, development and administration of large scale Operational, OLTP and
Analytical data structures including logical and physical design
·
Provide SQL performance
tuning on both OLTP and Data warehouse environments
·
Optimize DB2 resource
utilization by tuning queries (static and dynamic), recommending indexes, and
configuring database parameters
·
Provide data migration
support
·
Provide trend analysis to
management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource
management
·
Lead, mentor and/or provide
guidance to junior DBAs including guidance for troubleshooting escalated issues
·
Partner with offshore DBA
resources and thoroughly document processes to ensure successful implementation
by offshore staff and Production Control
·
Provide on-call rotational
24/7 Incident Response to database alerts from production monitoring tools and
Command Center personnel
·
Analyze Key Performance
Metrics and make recommendations for improvements
·
Provide input on the
selection and implementation of all database administration tools
·
Maintain the integrity of
data within the production environment including the execution of proper backup
and restoration policies and procedures which provide point-in-time restore
capabilities (disaster recovery)
·
Perform database capacity
planning and trend analysis
·
Deploy database changes in
strict accordance with change management policies and procedures
·
Interact and coordinate work
with System Administrators, Project Managers and fellow team members to support
various project requests
Required
Skills:
·
Bachelor's degree in CS/MIS
or equivalent experience
·
Minimum of 7 years of heavy
DB2z database administration experience and production support
·
Experience with DB2z V8 or
V9
·
DB2 V8 or V9 database
certification
·
Experience working with
database partitioning schemes
·
Experience working with
large systems in data sharing sysplex environment
·
Experience working with IBM
Admin tool suite, Query Monitor, and Omegamon (DB2 PE)
·
In-depth knowledge of DB2
utilities such as LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTAT, REORG, COPY, MERGECOPY, and MODIFY.
·
Solid understanding of DB2
client tools such as DB2 Data Studio, Visual Explain, Optimization Service
Center
·
Hands on experience with
performance tuning of complex SQLs
·
Experience with DB2 Stored
Procedures (SQL and COBOL)
·
Experience with Erwin or RDA
data modeling tools
·
Candidate must have excellent
communication skills
·
Preferred experience in data
modeling with Star Schema and *Operational Data Store* concepts
·
Prefer experience with IBM

has worked in an onshore/offshore model
